Satellite navigation system

Satellite navigation system is a system used to determine positions on Earth, using the satellite. Satellite navigation system sends the position data (longitude and latitude, and altitude) and time signals from satellites, to a receiver on the surface. Recipients can know its position on the surface, as well as the appropriate time.

In 2007, the satellite navigation system that serves only NAVSTAR Global Positioning System (GPS), the United States. GLONASS, the Russian satellite navigation system is in a stage of improvement, and is expected to be completed in 2010. The European Union is in process of launching a new satellite navigation system called Galileo, scheduled for completion in 2013. Other satellite navigation system being developed is owned by the PRC and IRNSS Beidou Indian-made.
